CVI prophylaxis

The newer guidelines for Immunoglobulin therapy helped us take better care of Common Variable Immunodeficiency patients. Select patients especially with bronchiectasis may need prophylactic antibiotics. Bactrim, Amoxicillin or Azithromycin are commonly preferred. Patients with the most challenging bronchiectasis are the elderly who may coincidently have arrhythmias, need to be extra careful on those patients with the use of Azithromycin.
